Greetings Southeast Chapter Members,
It is a challenge to write an article in mid-November that won’t be published until January 2020.
We just celebrated Veterans’ Day and even though it will be long over by the time you read this article, let me thank all those who have served this country and their families. Without their sacrifices, the freedoms that we share, like writing articles for magazines, might not exist today.
In addition to Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year celebrations are behind us. I hope each and everyone of you had wonderful holidays spent with family and friends. The voting on the ACA bylaws changes should also be behind us, so let’s come together again and enjoy this Association and what it has to offer each of us.
The Southeast Chapter has had three rallies since our last publication. The Christmas rally at Sun N Fun RV Resort, the Regional Rally at Lazydays and the Supershow. These events are always lots of fun for our members and the rally hosts always work very hard to assure that a good time is shared by everyone. Thank you to all who hosted and attended. The success of these rallies depends upon the Chapter members. Thank you for being supportive of your Chapter.
In February, the Southeast Chapter will return to Disney’s Fort Wilderness. Mark your calendars for February 3 through 6 or 7 or 8, 2020. This is an ala carte gathering as meals and park admissions are not included. Social hours will be held in the morning and afternoon. I hope you have made your reservations for this “magical” event.
Our Spring rally will be April 16 through 20, 2020, at Compass RV Resort in St. Augustine, FL. This is the closest campground to historic St. Augustine. This is a very popular location and the rally has sold out in the past. Our rally hosts John and Jill Schafer and Dick and Pat Lokar are planning a fun-filled event. Please be sure to register for this event online at www.southeastaca.net.
Because everyone had such a great experience at Creekside RV Resort, Southeast will be returning there October 15 through 17, 2020. Rally hosts Dennis and Julie Grimes and Jerry and Kay Venlett will work hard to offer you the best rally they possibly can. Both of these couples are relatively new to the Chapter and to hosting, so hats off and a big thank you for volunteering. There has been an increase in site fees and the 2020 rally will allow guests to choose their site, perimeter, waterside or premium. Rates will be determined by site reservation. As time gets closer, we will have more information for you that will be available online. We will keep you posted.
If any members have suggestions for rally locations, please share this with your Chapter President or other officers. We are always open to suggestions and look forward to exploring new venues.
Welcome our newest Southeast members William and Diane DeMille from Palatine, IL, John and Wilma Green from Oxford FL, Grover and Sandy Servis from Dunedin FL, Ronnie and Christy Jones from Huntsville AL and Dave and Phyllis Carroll from Zephyrhills FL. We look forward to seeing you at many of our rallies.
Dorothy Strunk, President
