Hello Southeast Members,
I am sure you have all heard about the terrible accident our dedicated Vice President and Past President Ray Shea suffered almost 2 months ago while riding his bicycle. As far as I know, no one has been apprehended in this hit-and-run.
Ray and Pauline (yes, she is finally able to be with him) are currently at the Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Ray is making progress. He is able to move his arms and legs. He even stood for a second. By the time this is published, this will be very old news and God willing he will have made great strides in his recovery.
Please know that Ray and Pauline are very thankful for all your cards and prayers. As their days are full, cards and texts are preferable to phone calls. Please continue to keep both Ray and Pauline in your thoughts and prayers. Pauline’s daughter, Janet, does an excellent update on Facebook every few days for those who monitor FB.
The Chapter is still planning on its October rally in Pine Mountain Georgia. Rally dates are October 1 through 5, 2020. This will be a very low-key rally (no catered dinners planned). The reason for this is that with the continued spread of the virus, Chapter leadership thought it best not to plan gatherings that included food prepared by members or others. Other than the cost of the sites, there will be no rally fee. Please remember to book your sites before September 1 to be eligible for the rally rate (the resort has extended this date twice due to the pandemic). Also please note that if you must cancel for any reason your first day deposit is non-refundable. Signup online at www.southeastaca.net and with Pine Mountain RV Resort (706-663-4329 or www.pinemountainrvresort.com).
The Christmas rally is scheduled for December 3-7 at Creekside RV Resort in Punta Gorda Florida. A reminder that this is our first Christmas rally outside of Sarasota in twenty-plus years. The rally hosts are working hard to make it a special one, so please be sure to sign up both at Creekside and online at www.southeastaca.net.
Our Regional rally in January is still on target. This will be our 10th annual regional rally at LazyDays. The 2021 rally will be held at two locations, LazyDays and the Supershow. It will Start on January 6 and run through January 17, 2021. Please register with LazyDays if you are interested. Registration for the Supershow aspect of the rally is handled by the Florida Recreational Vehicle Trade Association (FRVTA). Signup at www.southeastaca.net is also requested. Keith Landers will be organizing the Supershow aspect and Ed and Susan Lightfoot will host the Lazydays side of the rally.
Southeast Chapter also has rallies scheduled for February 2021 at Fort Wilderness and April, 2021 at Florida Grande RV Resort in Webster Florida. More on these rallies at a later date.
Should anyone be interested in serving on the Board of the Southeast Chapter or the National Board, please let me know. Elections for both are approaching. It is important to “give back” to organizations that have given us all such wonderful friends and memories. Please consider volunteering.
Don’t forget to register for the National Rally in Marksville, LA, November 1-6, 2020. The rally will be held at the Paragon Casino RV Park. This will mark the ACA 30th anniversary and will be a very special rally.
Things have not changed since the last magazine regarding Southeast Chapter rallies/plans. As with many other chapters, we are in a holding phase waiting for the new normal to present itself.
Please stay healthy and safe. If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to let me know. Input is always welcome.
