Hello Southeast Members,
Southeast Vice President Ray Shea is still at the Michael Debakey Hospital VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas. He is slowly but surely making progress in his rehabilitation. Ray and Pauline are both so thankful for your thoughts, cards and prayers. I know Ray enjoys receiving cards from all his Southeast friends. The hospital staff has rigged Ray’s phone so he can make calls and answer the phone without assistance. Don’t be surprised if you one day receive a call from him. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. Pauline also needs extra prayers as their home has been in the potential path for many of these storms heading through the Gulf.
The Fall Rally in Pine Mountain, Georgia was so much fun. Twelve coaches attended. Two first-time SEACA rally attendees were there: Harold Layne and Brenda Edwards and the Miskell Family (Chris, Charlsanne, Maddy and Maci). Maddy and Maci, ages 13 and 10 respectively, were our youngest attendees. Chris and Charlsanne celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary with us and shared anniversary cake with the group. Larry Hornsby, our own “music man”, was the Friday night hit at the campground. We had many visitors come to participate in our karaoke. A special thank you to Erv and Dorothy Bretz for co-hosting the rally. This rally was such a relaxing and special time because so many of the attendees were just happy to be together at a SEACA rally again. Coronavirus has kept us apart too long. It was great to see everyone.
Our Christmas rally is scheduled for December 3-7 at Creekside RV Resort in Punta Gorda, Florida. Rally hosts Jerry and Kay Venlett and Michael and Dorothy Strunk are hard at work to make this a very special rally for all who attend. Please be sure to signup both at Creekside and online at www.southeastaca.net. The cost of this rally is $305.
Our Regional Rally in January is still on target. This will be our 10th annual regional rally at Lazydays. The 2021 rally will be held in two locations. Lazydays and the Tampa Supershow. The rally will start on January 6 and end on January 17, 2021. Please register with Lazydays for the January 6through 12 portions of the rally (800-905-6627 or 813-246-4777). Do not forget to register online at www.southeastaca.net. The Florida Supershow portion of the rally (January 12-17) is run by the Florida Recreational Vehicle Trade Association (FRVTA). Registration started October 7, 2020. (http://www.frvta.org/show/florida-rv-supershow/). The price per coach is $235 for the FRVTA portion. This rally sells out quickly, if you have not made your reservations, you are urged to do so. This is a “til Sold Out” deadline.
The Southeast Chapter will celebrate its 4th annual Disney adventure at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, January 31 through February 15, 2021 (https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/campsites-at-fort-wilderness-resort/). Pick whatever and as many days as you like. Magical social hours will be held daily. Make your plans early, only 20 sites have been reserved. This is an ala carte gathering as meals and park admissions are not included. Expect costs to be about $138 per night. Reservations can be made by calling Hilda Neal (302-598-8892) or emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to tell her you are with the Southeast Chapter of ACA. There is plenty to do at Fort Wilderness if you don’t want to attend the theme parks.
Mark your calendars for our Spring 2021 rally April 9 through 13 at Florida Grande RV Resort in Webster FL. Our rally hosts (the Moorefields and Gallups) are actively working on the details for this rally and more information will certainly follow. Be sure to get these dates on your calendar. The resort has offered to allow coaches to come in 2 days early and stay 2 days after the event at the rally rate ($53 per night). Total rally costs will be available as soon as our hosts have finalized all the plans for this event.
Our nominating committee, Bob Franks and Jim Graham, are still working on nominations for President and Vice President. Hopefully, they will be successful in finding folks willing to step into these two important slots. Treasurer and webmaster Keith Landers, Secretary Pat Lokar and Membership Chairs Wayne and Carol Beyer have agreed to continue in these positions. Thank you.
As always, I solicit input from any of our Members. Please contact me or any Board member with suggestions or complaints.
Stay healthy, safe travel and God bless you.
