What a year it has been already!
Let me start by expressing our sadness over the loss of our Membership Chair, Yvonne Brim. Yvonne lost her long battle to cancer in January. Yvonne and her husband, Charles were longstanding members of Southeast. Yvonne never wavered in her commitment to the Chapter and continued her duties until December, 2019. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Thank you to Wayne and Carol Beyer who volunteered to be Membership Chairs. It is my understanding that records have been transferred and they are already working.
Since the last article, Southeast had a successful Christmas rally at Sun ‘N Fun RV Resort. Our rally hosts Bob and Sue Moore, Brett and Sandy Sloan and Martin Mancuso managed to overcome some roadblocks established by Sun ‘N Fun to assure that everyone had a festive and happy experience filled with good food and great camaraderie.
Mention must also be made of our Regional Rally at Lazydays. We had a great turn-out, especially past and present presidents (9 between Southeast and Great Lakes, including Bill Makowski, past president of Happy Wanderers, Bob Frank, a past president of SE Chapter and National President, Jim Graham, past president SEACA, Ray Shea, past president, SEACA, Pauline Shea, past president SEACA, Bev DeAngelis, past president of Great Lakes, Jerry Pickett, current president of Great Lakes Chapter and Bob Carani past National VP and past president of the Great Lakes Chapter) and many visitors from other chapters. Many alumni of the Happy Wanderers Chapter came early to share in some pre-rally fun and friendship. A big thank you to all you attended and especially to those who worked so hard to make this such a memorable event. A special thank you to Ed and Sue Lightfoot for your excellent choices in entertainment. We welcomed two new members at this rally Larry and Becky Schuster and Bob and Sandie Wells.
The Supershow was amazing! Our guest barbeque master, Rodney Renner (and his lovely wife Marla) along with the help of our Treasurer and Webmaster, Keith Landers and his lovely wife Lynnea, did a spectacular job with our chicken, pork and ribs Bar B-Q and the low- country boil dinners. A big thank you to Lazydays for its support. Also another big thank you to our REV guests who joined us and supplied our Thursday evening dinner. Congratulations to those members who bought new coaches at the Supershow. (Two new American coaches we hear!) We had three new members who attended this rally. Welcome to Michael and Nancy Gess, Ronald and Ruth Sherman and Ronnie and Christy Jones.
The Disney Fort Wilderness rally was held in February, 2020. This is a very popular rally. We had 23 coaches scheduled to attend.
Our Spring rally will be April 16 through 20, 2020 at Compass RV Resort in St. Augustine, FL. The campground is the closest to historic St. Augustine. This has been a very popular location and the rally has sold out in previous years so be sure to make your reservations. Our rally hosts John and Jill Schafer and Dick and Pat Lokar are working hard to make this a great experience for those who attend. Please be sure to register online at www.southeastaca.net.
The Fall rally location is yet to be decided. THIS IS A CHANGE FROM OUR LAST POSTING. We are still looking at October 15 through 19 for the rally dates, but we are looking at locations in either Tennessee or Georgia. It would be nice if we have some Fall foliage to enjoy while traveling to and from this rally. Campgrounds in each State are under consideration and your leadership is in discussion with both to get the best possible location for our needs. We will keep you posted on this rally, but please reserve the dates. We will need rally hosts for this rally so please let me know if you are able/willing to become a rally host at this event.
Our Christmas rally will be held at Creekside RV Resort in Punta Gorda FL. The rally will be held December 3 through 7, 2020. Southeast had such a great experience at Creekside during our 2019 fall rally, we decided to return. Our time at Sun ’N Fun for our Christmas rally finally, after almost 20 years, came to an end. A reminder that there has been an increase in site fees and the 2020 Christmas rally will allow guests to choose their site, perimeter, waterside or premium. Rates will be determined by site reservation. As time gets closer, we will have more information available online. Jerry and Kay Venlett have graciously agreed to host this rally. They are relatively new to the Chapter and to hosting, so hats off and a big thank you.
We are already working on our January 2021 Lazydays/Supershow rally. We have a request pending with the ACA Board to allow this to be designated a “regional” rally. Once we hear from the Board, we will get you the details. For now, know that the dates are January 6 through January 17, 2021.
Welcome to our new members and first timers Michael and Nancy Gess from Kirkland, WA; Ronnie and Christy Jones from Huntsville, AL; Larry and Becky Schuster from Polk City, FL; Ronald and Ruth Sherman from Crestview, FL and Bob and Sandie Wells from Fairmont, WV.
As I state in every article, if any members have any suggestions or would like to volunteer for any event or task, please do not hesitate to contact me.
